Conference on Municipal Energy Management Held in Bulgarian Municipalities

On March 27, 2025, the final conference of the MENERGERS project, funded by the EUKI programme, was held at Hotel Forum in Sofia.

The event brought together all international partners from Romania and Germany, as well as representatives of the pilot municipalities in Bulgaria – Sapareva Banya, Svilengrad, and Ruse.

Following the official opening of the conference by the project coordinator, Maria Minkova, Executive Director of the National Trust EcoFund, the Romanian partners presented their new approach to green public procurement, developed within the framework of the project.

Best practices and extensive experience were also shared by the energy managers from the three pilot municipalities in Bulgaria. The energy manager model, developed and significantly improved over the course of one calendar year, provides a solid foundation for enhancing the work of municipal staff in Bulgarian municipalities.

Participants in the event agreed on the importance of continuing and building upon the achievements, including organizing further training sessions for municipal specialists and developing a full training course on the topic of energy management.

The strong cooperation and achieved results represent just one step toward reaching the broader goals of ensuring sustainable energy management at national, regional, and municipal levels.
