NTEF with the support of our German partners broadens the climate and energy efficiency initiative in Bulgarian schools in the scope of the European climate initiative (EUKI)

The energy saving initiative for Bulgarian schools continues with several events in the past days. Started in 2015, the initiative sees its real development in the current school year. On 13th and 14th of November, in Veliko Tarnovo and Sofia were held development workshops for experience sharing about the work of the energy teams, led by the teachers who were trained. These forms of extracurricular activities not only give knowledge and experience to the students about the topic of climate change and energy saving, they also contribute to the considerable savings of energy and the corresponding financial resource for the schools.
Directors of more than 30 schools and kindergartens from the Sofia, Samokov, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Polski Trambesh and Pavel Banya municipalities took part in the two development workshops.
Representatives of the Ministry of education and science and its regional units, as well as the National center for improvement of the pedagogical specialists’ qualification took active part. During the discussion, the representatives of the six municipal administrations also contributed, as well as the regional units of the Ministry of Healthcare.
The opportunities and needed next steps for broadening the initiative, motivating schools and municipalities and the collaboration between the sectors of environment and education on the national level for implementing the climate change policies were clearly outlined.
