NTEF to Support Energy Efficiency at “Zora” Kindergarten in Ruse

The contract “Implementation of Energy Efficiency Measures at Zora Kindergarten, Ruse” was signed by Maria Minkova, Director of the Executive Bureau of the National Trust EcoFund (NTEF), and Encho Enchev, Deputy Mayor for Education and Culture of Ruse Municipality.

The National Trust EcoFund will support the energy efficiency improvement of Zora Kindergarten in the city of Ruse.

The goal of the project is to improve the energy performance of the building, significantly reduce electricity consumption, and save carbon emissions amounting to 83.80 tons per year. A photovoltaic power system is also planned for installation to produce electricity for the building’s own use.

The funding is provided under the “Energy Efficiency for Municipal Schools and Kindergartens” Programme and amounts to up to BGN 420,000.

To ensure the full effect of the energy-saving measures, teaching staff from Zora Kindergarten participated this week in training organized by NTEF aimed at optimizing user behavior (children and staff) to reduce energy consumption.

The energy renovation of the building is expected to be completed by October 2025, after which an energy-saving education program for children will be implemented in the newly renovated kindergarten.

A total of 110 children are enrolled at Zora Kindergarten, including one of five groups dedicated to children with special educational needs. The building has not undergone major renovations in over 40 years.
