Visions 2045 Project pursues the goal of accompanying schools on their way to climate neutrality. A holistic approach is taken to make them the drivers and role models in reducing the carbon footprint and to engage them in reaching local climate and energy targets in collaboration with local authorities.
As major CO2 emitters in municipalities, schools play a special role: They are large consumers of energy, but they are also the place where future generations are educated. To achieve a transition, to enable them to harness their self-efficacy and to reduce their carbon footprint, a dedicated training approach and manuals are prepared and tested.
Based on climate checks and vision workshops in schools, action plans in the form of roadmaps are developed. These plans are then put into practice with municipalities and other local initiatives. The project empowers different actors to work jointly on a much-needed transition, while schools also benefit from this local network to exchange experiences and new contacts.
