From June 10th to June 14th and from 24th to 29th of June 2019, a training for teachers took place under the initiative for the Introduction of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency knowledge in Bulgarian schools and kindergartens.
In six groups (kindergarten, primary, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography) there was a total of 134 teachers from 41 schools and 6 kindergartens from 13 municipalities.
The lecturers from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” had prepared two teachers’ books for each group – comprising of the content on climate change and energy saving in school (Book 1) and instructed teachers how to use the methodical materials (Book 2). Each group received training on the use of measuring instruments, sets of which are provided to each school for the work of energy teams – a form of interest activities. There were also general guidelines and ideas on how teachers could help students visualize their ideas and concepts using simple geometric figures.
The training was provided with the financial and expert support of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
The host of the training was the National Center for Improvement of the Qualifications of Pedagogical Specialists at the Ministry of Education and Science, partner of NTEF and UfU in the initiative. The already developed program is expected to remain a permanently for teacher training across the country.
